1 - Don't stage your home with religious decorations
No matter what your religion is, you may want to refrain from using religious decorations around the house. This will help prevent you from possibly chasing someone off who would have otherwise fallen in love with your house and made an offer. If you really feel the need to have something religious placed in the home for your own reasons, then try to make it something small and unobtrusive and put it somewhere where it won't immediately become a focal point for those who come to view the house.
2 - Don't decorate with hunting trophies
If you are an avid hunter, then it makes sense that you would want to decorate your own home with your trophies and this is fine. However, you need to remember that there are a lot of people out there who are animal activists, or even those who simply feel bad when they see a hunting trophy. If a person is very empathetic to animals and they walk in a home to see a deer head or another animal staring back at them, it can cause them to walk right out.
3 - Don't burn incense or oils
While you may want to create a wonderful smelling environment for those who come to look at the house, you want to keep in mind that people can have much different taste when it comes to what scents they like and what ones offend them. Also, there are a lot of people who have allergies, asthma and other issues that can be irritated by certain smells. The best way for you to get a fantastic smelling home without chasing people off is to bake something like fresh bread or cookies before the house shows.
